CUPRA el-Born: The fun side of electricity

Seat el-Born is dead, long live Cupra el-Born, you might say. Seat’s version of the VW ID.3 model will become officially available with the Cupra badge, at least for a while.

Seat standalone sports brand will be the first to offer an electric-powered sports sedan in the VW Group. The company has not disclosed all the technical specifications of the new electric model based on MEB platform, but what we do know is that it has a battery capacity 77 kWh and an electric motor of indeterminate power rear wheels.

Thanks large batteries driving range is estimated at 500 kilometers. Compatibility with fast charging means that the Spanish compact electric representative only needs charging for 260 kilometers range. At copper they say el-Born accelerates to 50 km / h in 2,9 seconds, but they have not revealed the time to accelerate to a hundred. The Spanish carmaker adds that its first electric vehicle will be equipped with the system Dynamic Chassis Control Sport (DCC Sport)which will offer “Top level driving dynamics”.

It is generally new Cupra el Born understandably similar form VW ID.3, but the Spanish model features a more aggressive front end, deeper side sills, new wheels and its unique styling features that include bronze stylistic elements both inside and outside.

Cuprine the new electric model will be manufactured at VW’s factory Zwickau, together with the model ID.3and will be introduced to the European market in 2021.
