SAINZ: The second turn of SOCHI is poorly designed

Carlos Sainz has accepted the blame for the collision at the Russian Grand Prix race in Sochi, but the Spaniard believes this second turn of the track is poorly designed.

Second turn paths v Sochi was the scene many accidents and controversiessince Formula 1 years 2014 visited this Russian venue for the first time. Carlos Sainz he collided in that spot on Sunday in the first round when he had to take a shortcut through this area, where he unfortunately failed to prevent a collision in the corner of the guardrail.

Racer McLaren started badly and from sixth place slipped back. It's in the second turn came widely, which meant he had to drive past styrofoam blocks. But because he was too fast, he hit the outer edge of the fence and damaged the front of the car. Sainz he explained that he was trying to dodge confrontation with a competitor, which forced him to join the track through a barrier with obstacles. “I had a very bad start on the right side of the starting line, but I wasn’t the only one doing it. We had no grip there. When I got to the second turn, I was still in a good position and I was able to fight inside the braking zone. But when I reached the turn, I had to open the steering wheel and drive over the curbs,”Describes his events Sainz.

Sainz was too fast while driving through the chicane made of styrofoam blocks and could not avoid the corner of the protective fence, so he collided and resigned after two more turns of the race.

"At this point, I wanted to drive through the chicane with obstacles, but I was clearly too fast. The exit angle was really narrow to get around, but I also misjudged the situation myself. The track was dirty and I crashed into the edge of the track. This is very frustrating,He admits Sainz. "But there will always be mistakes during the season. I did it today and I apologize to the team. Now I’m looking forward to the next race at the Nürburgring and that I’m trying to do a better job.”However Sleep considers that there is room to improve this place in the second turn. “This part is certainly not well designed. He forces the racers to take very strange lines, which then leads to time penalties if we don’t drive this turn off the track through the chic he fence. But, it is what it is and today I made a mistake."
