Penalty for Alfa Romeo: Hamilton and Kubica to points

Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi received a 30-second penalty after the race. With that, Lewis Hamilton and Robert Kubica were among the points winners. First point for the Williams team in the 2019 season!

And why the penalty for Alfa Romeo at all? Both racers were penalized for a violation at the start because they used the clutch at a standing start on a wet track in such a way that it most likely acted as an anti-slip system. However, this is not allowed by the rules. The commissioners evaluated this with a Stop-and-Go penalty, which, however, automatically changes to a 30-second mark-up penalty after the race. Both Haas racers have advanced to seventh and eighth place, and the Americans now have the same number of points as Alfa Romeo.

Of course, Alfa Romeo does not understand and accept these penalties. Team boss Frederic Vaseur has already announced a protest. They now have 96 hours to decide whether to file an official protest. Taisto did the same Ferrari after Vettl’s penalty in a race in Canada, but their protest failed. We have a hard time believing that Alfa Romeo will succeed either.

And now to the lucky winner of this race. This is definitely Robert Kubica, who set a new record in addition to the point he won. 8 years, 8 months and 14 days have passed since he won his last point in F1. We have never had such a long time span between two points in the history of F1.
