The Alfa Romeo team has a new head of the aerodynamics department. Alessandro Cinelli, after a three-week paid leave, went to Hinwil, where he will take over the position of predecessor of Jan Monchaux, who will take over the position of technical director on August 1, which has been held by Simone Resta. The latter is returning to Maranello.
Cinelli, 44, worked in the aerodynamics department of the Williams team between 1998 and 2002. In 2002, he was taken home to Italy. At Ferrari, he worked in various fields for 17 years, including being the aerodynamics engineer of the test and racing team, the head of the so-called Aero-Performance-Group, and most recently the head of aerodynamic experiments.
Alfa Romeo boss Frederic Vaseur is looking forward to his arrival. “Alessandro will join a strong aerodynamics team and we hope he will continue with his good work he has done so far. His income shows how we are strengthening our current structures. ”
This restructuring was necessary because, as already mentioned, technical boss Simone Resta is returning to Ferrari. Resta will have his last working day for Alfa Romeo today. With the promotion of Monchaux to the position of technical director, the position of head of aerodynamics has become vacant and this will now be taken over by Cinelli.
