F1 first man Chase Carey told team bosses that they now have to count on 2020 races now in the 22 season. Barcelona is located (according to the media) just before the contract extension. The government is expected to come to the rescue with a financial injection, in order to save the race and for the F1 caravan to continue to host the gates of the Catalan capital.
And how big are the chances for Hockenheim? From a financial point of view very bad. To meet the demands of Liberty Media, the German race would need more than 100.000 spectators in the stands. And so many don’t even go to the racetrack. In order for Hockenheim, like Barcelona, to receive financial support from the government, this is unfortunately part of the mission impossible. And Mercedes ’contribution as a named race sponsor was also just a one-off affair. That's why the head of the Hockenheim racetrack Georg Seiler addresses everyone who wants to continue the race for the German Grand Prix: "It is certainly possible that if we all stand together, we can put something on its feet."
Sebastian Vettel, on the other hand, is urging majority F1 owners to show their heart for traditional F1 events. “Money shouldn’t always be in the lead role. Some races just can’t go away no matter how much they pay. Sport should take place where there is passion. The F1 Championship without Monza would be a big joke. ”
