Zak Brown: Let the teams know where the path leads!

McLaren boss Zak Brown no longer believes that talks for a new F1 2021 policy will bring much, and as a result, he urges decision-makers to act decisively and show where the path will lead. “It all looks like we are talking about the same problems over and over again, but we are not making progress because all the teams have taken their positions. And that will not change. ”

Originally, the new rules were supposed to be ready in June this year, but the teams agreed to postpone this deadline to October. Zak Brown sees in this only the strategy of certain teams. In addition to Renault, McLaren was on the side of the critics of the extension, but he agreed to only one condition, namely that important fundamentals in finance do not change.

The coming months are expected to benefit from the adjustment of sports rules in particular, which Brown strongly doubts. "For ten teams to come together in any way in the next three months for the first time in F1 history, this is not going to happen."

Because of this, the F1 and FIA should now make decisions and simply proceed, “because I don’t think we’ll hear anything new at the next or later strategy group meeting that we haven’t heard in the past twelve months,” Brown adds.

If he could decide for himself, then the rules would have been adopted as early as June, but he thought they could have taken a step forward between June and October, but he admits that he has taken them into account. “We will never have perfect rules, which is why they will have to adapt anyway. So I don’t believe these extra few months will make any difference. October 30th will be the same as June 20th or whatever that date was. ”
