In the hunt to win the race for Hungarian GP longed Lewis Hamilton from the team Mercedes Benz in Max Verstappen from the team Red Bull Racing squeezed the maximum out of their race cars. This led to the gap between the top three and midfield teams being even bigger than before.
Ross Brawn, sports boss Formula 1 says: “McLaren consolidated their position in the fourth team, but both racers were overtaken by a lap by the top teams. Four racers from four different teams even twice and one three times. I know, I’ve pointed this out many times, but in Hungary we got to see once again that the difference between the top three and the rest is too big. That needs to change. This is my big goal in the work of the 2021 season rules."
British continues: “I know this is an ambitious goal, and it is also clear to me that we will not succeed overnight. I also don’t have a magic wand. However, we believe that we can achieve this goal, and we need to tackle three different things: technical rules, sports rules and financial regulations."
Brown is sure to be Grand Prix sport on the right track: “I see Formula 1 bursting with health. Without wanting to step on Mercedes ’foot, but it’s understandable that fans want more replacements at the top. But in the past twelve races of the season, we’ve seen at least six where there has been a concrete fight to win."
In the end Brown added: “Last but not least, I’m a fan too and can’t wait to see how it all goes together after the summer break at Spa and Monza. Two tracks full of history that always offer tense races."
