It was clear at the end of last November. The British racer with Thai roots will be racing in the 2019 season for the team Toro Rosso. Prior to that, the contract between Albon and the team had to be terminated Nissan e.dams v Formula E. And how did the choice fall on Albona in the first place? Franz tost, team boss Toro Rosso explain: “Alexander showed great performances in Formula 2018 in 2. He won four races and finished the season in third place. The way he overtook in the races showed us that he is ready and mature to take the next step."

But what many have probably forgotten is the fact that it is Albon in the past already belonged to Red Bullovo a team of young racers, but he was fired because he was a sports consultant to the Red Bulls Helmut Marko disappointed with his results. Then, at the end of 2018, a return followed. Albon he thanked Red Bullu for a second chance: “I’ve had quite a few ups and downs in my career. When I was fired from their program in 2012, I knew my path would be much harder. I worked hard and tried to impress those responsible every time I was allowed into the race car.”Albon further explains that his season at the time was in Renault formulas to forget. “I didn’t really race well back then. There was no reason to detain me.”In doing so, he beat racers like them during the go-kart race Charles Leclerc, Pierre Gasly in Max Verstappen.

Albon was born on 23 March 1996 in London and has completed the classic racing school we know from most racers. Gokart (national and European champion), then Formula Renault 2.0 (this was exactly the season when he couldn't find himself at all and because of that Marko threw him out of the program Red Bulla). But in 2014, the knot finally broke. Third place in Formula Renault 2.0. In the 2015 season, Albon was seventh in the championship Formula 3, and in 2016 the second in the series GP3, after today's racer Ferrari Charles Leclerc.

In 2017, it’s in its first season Formula 2 won the tenth place, and a year later he broke through to the overall third place, lagging only behind Hero Russell in To Lando Norris, who managed to take the cockpit of the car in the 2019 season Formula 1. This year, Albon, a London-born Briton with a Thai mother and a Thai license, also convinced Ross Brown, sports boss Formula 1. "Verstappen is already a known greatness of our sport, although we like to forget that he is only 21 years old. At Toro Ross, Daniil Kvjat returned with great performances. But Alex Albon is the one who presents the biggest surprise to me.“Also Franz tost, team boss Toro Rosso, finds only words of praise: “Albon listens to the team and the engineers. I believe that this is an important precondition for him to prove himself in the field of Formula 1 at the time. He showed great performances at that time."

Albon looking back, he says he didn't think long when he was suddenly offered a chance last winter when he called Helmut Marko. "It’s always risky to move from one team to another. But as a six-year-old, I dreamed of Formula 1, but all young racers do. Even when I was still in Formula 2, my goal remained Formula 1. But when it became less and less likely that this step would succeed, I opted for Formula E."

"When the opportunity to enter Formula 1 was offered, the decision was of course not difficult, it was completely clear to me what I wanted to do. Of course, in Formula 1 there is less safety for survival, but also in Formula E you have to show great performances and achieve results if you want to keep your seat. I can say that I do not regret anything. You just don’t want to miss this opportunity. That made it an easy decision for me,”Adds Albon.
And from the race in Spa to the end of the season - with good results also in the season 2020 - will now race in the first team Red Bull Racing.
