Michael Masi FIA: A single penalty is coming

On topic "unsafe release“, Ie in case of dangerous descent after stops in the pits, the umbrella organization FIA does not know sorry. For example, if a team drops its race car on the track with the wheel not attached enough, or if a racer is given the green light after changing wheels, which endangers another racer, then penalties, partly very high, are imposed. The team bosses were most upset about the scene that occurred at this year’s race in Hockenheim. That's when Classic Ferrari for sale to his racer Charles Leclerc lit the green light even though he was close to Romain Grosjean, who had to brake hard. The team from Maranello received only a fine after the race.

Teams they resented it: If a penalty of the amount is imposed for doing so 5.000 euros, then it just isn’t severe enough. It could even encourage someone to work on the races in this area of lowering the racer after stops in suspicious borders, just to gain a place. Top teams pay 5.000 euros straight from their wallets.

Michael Masi listened to the ekpam and together they reached an agreement on penalties for unsafe release

After debates in the context of the race in Hungary, the race director met FIA Michael Masi explained: "We had an exhaustive conversation on this topic. We have reached an agreement that in the future we will impose a time penalty for the 'unsafe release' in the race, regardless of whether a racer has gained an advantage or not. So far, we have treated this differently. The teams thought it was good and agreed."

Masi continues: “This shows that we are always open to suggestions. If the team is not happy with our approach, then we listen to them. As for the dangerous descent in training and in qualifying, that’s something else, but for the races, we’ve unified the time penalty."
