Unpleasant: 2021 racing cars barely faster than Formula 2?

It is still unclear exactly what the race cars will look like Formula 1 generation 2021. As part of the racing weekend in Singapore are the first men of the teams from the Formula 1 sports boss, Ross Brown, received latest concepts, although work will continue on the design. Pri team leaders this last concept has caused astonishment, for the race cars of the year 2021 they are supposed to be for the obese six seconds on a circle slower than today. Half the time is supposed to come from new ones 18 inch wheelsand the other half because of simplified aerodynamics.

Ross Brawn, the sports boss of the majority owners of Formula 1 Liberty Media, presented the latest concept of the car of the 2021 season to the teams in Singapore. It caused outrage among the teams.

The shape of race cars, mainly simplified aerodynamics takes care of massive criticism. Christian horner, team boss Red Bull Racing, is in Singapore said: “By no means can I imagine that there is only one aerodynamics department among all the teams that would show enthusiasm after reading the proposed rules.“Indignation Horner is, of course, perfectly understandable, for at Red Bullu have under their auspices one of the best departments of aerodynamics - understandably with Adrian Newey at the head.

Otmar Szafnauer, team boss Racing Point, he said anxiously: “My biggest concern is that the new race cars will be even heavier and will generate less vacuum. Depending on the track, lap times could increase from five to seven seconds. And to be precise, after adopting the budget ceiling, we will spend $ 175 million to develop a race car that will be barely faster than Formula 2. When I became interested in Formula 1, these were the fastest race cars on the planet. And if we can't offer that to the fans anymore, then something very important will be lost here."
