The ban on tire heaters was considered as key element for the 2021 seasonwhen Formula 1 will be worn for the first time in 18 inch wheels. To ensure an easier transition, the Italian manufacturer has advocated that these heaters be retained for once. For Pirelli these heaters also played an important role in development. “In 2021, great changes await us. We have a new race car, new aerodynamics and new larger tires. It is about achieving a clean transition and only then separating ourselves from these heaters. But we need time for that, which is why these heaters will be in use in 2021. By the teams some resistance it was not felt against Pirelli's intention.
