Ross Brawn, the sports boss of Formula 1, is v Austin explained: "This policy has teeth and claws. Basically, the financial rules are very important to me to ensure the future of Formula 1. We have made a few attempts over the years, but we have failed. It was about self-limitation within honorable men, but there aren’t exactly many of them in the Formula 1 paddock. The biggest difference until then was that the financial side was part of the rules for the first time. This gives us the opportunity to impose a penalty for violating the financial rules. How strict this will be depends on the mode of the offense. If we prove fraud, then the offender will lose his championship. This is a really serious matter."
In other words: Whoever sins will fly out of the championship. “Within the FIA as well as Formula 1, we have very smart financial experts. In addition, we also sought help outside of Formula 1, such as at Deloitte. They have extensive experience in NFL sports funding. And their work paid off."
Brown he adds: "Our rules are well thought out, but they will continue to evolve, as will all rules. I am sure we will face some challenge. However, it was really high time that the costs in Formula 1 were finally managed. Costs exploded and so could no longer continue."
