New Octavia it is indeed technically quite close to the eighth generation Volkswagen Golf, but the fourth generation of the best-selling Škoda seems closer in stature and feelings Audi A4. Also because of the sleek exterior and better materials in the passenger compartment.
The Czech is otherwise set on VW’s MQB platform, which enables better driving dynamics and more space in the passenger cabin. After all, the Octavia remains one of the most spacious compact cars. It measures in length 469 centimeters and is thus 1,9 centimeters longer than its predecessor (in the van version, the increment is 2,2 centimeters). In any case, it is the most spacious trunk in the segment, which means 600 liters in a station wagon and 640 liters in the station wagon version.
In terms of exterior, the biggest change has come the front of the car, which instead of a split radiator grille got a significantly more sleek design with a sharp headlight design and bulkier bumpers. As we are used to, the inscription Škoda stretches over the trunk door, and it is quite reminiscent of everything a scaled-down version of Superb.
Nova Škoda Octavia is available with a wide range of powertrains, of which it is worth highlighting a two-liter TSI capable of 140 kW (190 hp) and 320 Nm maximum torque and works with a seven-speed DSG transmission. This is the fastest model up to the RS version, for the ecologically conscious there is also a PHEV version with a socket, and the two-liter TDI in the most powerful version can 147 kW (200 hp) and 400 Nm maximum torque. The rest of the engine range offers versions of the 1,5- and 1,0-liter powertrains, and is also available 1,5-liter CNG version with 96 kW (130 hp).
He starts selling first Octavia Combi, and a few weeks later it is followed by a station wagon. The arrival of versions has already been confirmed RS in Scout.
