FORMULA 1 plans to reduce the vacuum in 2021 cars

Teams they decided some time ago to new policy postponed to summer 2022, which means they will be existing race car specifications remain in effect next season.

So it will be Formula 1 also used next season current 13-inch tiresby Pirelli originally introduced in 2019. This encouraged concerns, to be able to racing performance exceeded ability of tires. Recall that the teams refused new mixturesby Pirelli developed for the 2020 season, meaning the tires will be out of season 2019 used both this year and next year.

The technicians of the teams are expected to agree on how to reduce the vacuum in the 2021 season and thus increase the performance of the racing cars. Changes are expected to be made to the bodywork, the bottom of the car and the wings.

Technical working group discussed how it was via telephone conference yesterday limit further escalation of racing performance next year. A proposal for introduction was adopted chassis technical changes, the bottom of the car in wingsto reduce this vacuum and thus the tire load. This is expected to be confirmed at a meeting of team leaders next week. The technical working group also considered how to do next year restrict development.

The biggest problem with the increasing capacity of racing cars is the tires, which date back to 2019 and for which there is a fear that they would not be able to match the power of current racing cars.

Teams want to limit themselves the cost of upgrading race cars, which will be after the end of the season 2021 replaced by a new generation. At the same time, they also allow it opportunity to eliminate shortcomings in their current models. The debate was about development tokens, similar to the system we had six years ago with the introduction of hybrid technology. This would allow the teams to make their own development programs focus on the limited number of areas their race cars.
