INDY 500: All about the race to be held on AUGUST 23

With exactly 33 race cars registered, there will be no pre-qualifications at the 104th edition of the Indy 500. We have prepared an overview of the participants and the entire schedule of trainings, qualifications and the race itself.

The famous American oval race, Indy 500, should be implemented already this year 24. May, but they did it because covid-19 pandemic moved to August 23, 2020. The official list of applicants is now also known. He will compete in the race 33 race cars, which is exactly as many as are allowed by the rules to take part in the race.

This year, they will not perform the otherwise traditional pre-qualifications (Bump Day), when one or more participants of the competition are eliminated before the start of the racing weekend. Last year, that unpleasant fate befell him Fernanda Alonso.

It's this year Alonso one of the 33 participants who have registered and are therefore already ranked in the race. Eight drivers on the list of applicants in the past is already aboutown Indy 500. Five drivers will soon take part in the race for the first time, which Americans also pretentiously call “Greatest Spectacle In Racing”. It should also be mentioned that the race will be held this year for the first time since it was organized (since 1911) without spectators in the stands. The cause is, of course, the coronavirus.

Fernando Alonso will drive the third McLaren-Chevrolet car.

Below is a list of applicants on 104. performance of Indy 500 and a schedule for an abbreviated training program. The first laps will be taken by the racers on Wednesday (August 12th). Qualifications are scheduled for Saturday / Sunday (August 15/16).

Because only registered 33 racers, will already determine the starting positions from ten to 33. It will be on Sunday top 9 decided on the order in the first three rows and struck for the first starting position.

It will be on the program in the second week of this year just one workout - traditional Carb Day, which will be two days before the race. Start 200 rounds there will be long races in front of empty stands August 23 at 20:30 p.m. Central European Time.
