LEWIS HAMILTON: The track in MUGELL is great, but the racer is not

The first bottom of both training sessions at Mugello was Valtteri Bottas fastest, his teammate Lewis Hamilton had to settle for second place and summed up: "The track is great and the racer is not."

Two simple workouts c Mugello and twice the same picture. Valtteri Bottas was faster Mercedes racer. On the first is his teammate Lewis Hamilton overtook by 48 thousandths of a second, and on the other by two tenths.

Lewis said after both trainings: “I love this track, it’s fast and presents a nice challenge. The track is good, but the racer is not. Mugello is a really big challenge and I haven’t mastered it already. I'm approaching the limit. In some areas of the track, I am doing well, such as in the last sector, but I still need to improve in the first two, especially in the first sector. Max and Valtteri shine there, and I have a longer analysis of the data in front of me. I hope to be able to correct my shortcomings tomorrow."

Lewis Hamilton is excited about the track in Mugello, but he is not impressed with his performances at yesterday’s training sessions and points out that he has a lot to fix.

The star Mercedesa most impressed by the super fast double right turn Arrabiata. "Here it feels like in a three-way left turn of the track in Istanbul. Casanova, Savelli and then the Arrabiata combination are really very intense turns, which is a great thing with the current generation of race cars. It will be difficult to control the tires in the race because these fast turns put a lot of strain on them, but this is a problem that will be the same for all racers." so British, which draws attention to another matter. “There is almost no room here to correct a mistake. If you overdo it on this trail, you are in serious trouble because there are almost no excursion zones here. Taken as a whole, Mugello is a physically demanding trail, something we haven't experienced for a long time. Above all, both turns of the Arabiata will be a big test for our necks. I love it."
