McLAREN: More RACES yes, more RACES no

They are united on the McLaren team. There should be more racetracks in Formula One, but no more races. And the solution is very simple: A cyclist by exchanging racetracks or organizers.

Calendar season 2020 is unusual because in the second half it will be six dirk of the nine held on the tracks (and variants) by formula 1 for a good time or never visited or used at all. This change met with little sympathy from the racers.

But already in next year should return to the established calendar. And the races will not take place for the most part on European soil, as is the case this year, but again around the world. F2021 Season XNUMX will cover 23 dirk, which will be the most in the history of Formula 1. But the tracks that jumped on the calendar this year are not found on the new, although the racers are tracks Nurburgring, Imola in Mugello explicitly praised. At the moment, there are thoughts of having more racetracks on the calendar. There is talk of Fr. shortening the racing weekend and on the rotation of racetracks. That would have a calendar Formula 1 always new influences.

Chase Carey has announced that Formula 1 will have 24 races per season in the future.

Pri McLarn the racer and the team leader advocate for the second variant. “If there's one thing we've learned this unusual year, it's that it's good to have new tracks on your calendar,”He says Carlos Sainz. "I would be very happy with a calendar that would cover 20 or 21 races, but with an exchange of racetracks."It simply came to our notice then Andreas Seidl. "We should take the opportunity to change venues, giving new tracks a chance to enter the race calendar. This could also create additional tension," so Bavarian. And he wants to take that path as well Liberty Medium, albeit with an even more voluminous calendar. “We expect to have 24 races in the coming years. We may rotate some to be able to acquire a few more new partners, but this will be limited because our priority remains long-term partnerships," so Chase carey.

Both Carlos Sainz and his boss Andreas Seidl find the increased number of races unacceptable and inhumane to team members, despite the fact that the racing weekend would be shortened to two days.

In the meantime racing weekend lasts four days. It opens on Thursday with a media day, and on Friday the action on the track begins with two 90-minute workouts. A revolution of rules was unveiled in Austin last year, which envisions racing the weekend shortened to three days. In light of this, however, there was talk that the calendar could be extended all to 25 dirk. He was in the race this year in Imola the first time a compact weekend time was used. Friday's practice was canceled, instead there was a 90-minute training session on Saturday, qualification in the afternoon, and a race on Sunday, of course.

Young Lando Norris, however, points out that more races a year would mean traveling from one to another with intermediate free time of one day or less.

Lando Norris considers it wrong to increase the number of racing weekends as a result. “Then in a day, maybe even in half a day you are already flying to the race. That’s not enough to add three or four extra weekends a year,”Says the young man British. "Of course, it’s mostly about the mechanics and the co-workers who travel with us. They have a much harder time than we racers,”He added Sainz, which, in the event of an extension of the calendar, expresses concerns: "We will need more teams and co-workers will rotate. This will all become even more expensive."

Ta argument there is nothing new in the debate. It is always used when the debate on calendar expansion begins. For Andreas Seidl, the head of the McLaren team, is quite clear: “Shortening the racing weekends would not justify more racing. The main point of my point of view is the time you are away from home on the way. We all spend a racing week on the track. This is not sustainable for our team members."
