ALBERS: James KEY is the new Adrian NEWEY

Christijan Albers believes James Key, McLaren's technical director, is the new Adrian Newey and ready to move to a top team.

Key joined the British team before the season 2019, his two seasons in the role technical director however, they were also the top two McLaren recently, and last season they even finished in third place among constructors.

It’s more than just a coincidence, as it has Key great credit to the team that returned from the back of the field to the very top of the middle. Former Formula 1 racer Albers thinks it is Key in fact so good that it would be a worthy replacement for the chief designer at Red Bullu Adrian Newey, which the Dutchman believes his time has expired. “Adrian Newey did his," so Albers for Dutch colleagues from Formula 1. "Pri Red Bullu have to build for the future. I see Kay as the new Newey."

Former Formula 1 driver Christijan Albers greatly appreciates James Kay, McLaren’s technical director, and points out that he could be seen in one of the top teams in the future.

But Red Bull he is not the only team he would be on Albers could see Key, for he sees the British also at Ferrari, where it would be interesting to see what I would do with their resources. With all this, however, the Dutchman does not believe it will Key out of desperation he left his role at McLarn. "If he doesn’t get a significantly better offer from a top team like Ferrari, I think he’ll stay in Woking. But I’m very curious, what could I do with a bigger budget and with more people? He thinks a lot." Albers worked with Key in 2006 and 200, first with Midland and then s Spyker, doing the same work as he does now at McLarn.

The highest probability would be the departure of Keya in Red Bull, where he would replace Adrian Newey, who, according to Albers, has run out of time.

The former racer thinks so Key it doesn’t stand out in all areas, but it has everything it takes to become one of the largest technical directors Formula 1. "I think he’s a talent, a real genius. He can certainly continue to grow in the role of technical director." If it will Key left in the future McLaren in the direction of the other team, is the most likely replacement for him Adrian Newey pri Red Bullu, as he worked at Toro Ross from 2012 until he moved to McLarn.
