Mercedes-Benz VISION EQXX: No more FEAR of recent REACH

At Mercedes, they presented a study of the electric car of the future, which sets new limits on the efficiency (and reach) of electric cars.

Concept representative with a label Vision EQXX, which is expected to be on the way to series production soon, brings a completely new perception of the electric powertrain, as Mercedes promises thousand kilometers range with one charge.

They are Mercedes engineers took advantage of all the tricks that can be used to influence range extension, which also means the use of lighter materials, aerodynamic solutions and of course the latest findings in the field of electric powertrains.

It is also interesting to note that they are in the development of the model Vision EQXX engineers from the Mercedes team also took part in Formulas 1. The concept is powered by a 900-volt battery pack with usable capacity 100 kWh, which is a similar value as the model 450+ EQS, but despite the same capacity, the batteries are half smaller and with weight 495 kg also by a third easier, as they achieved a close energy density with a special design 400 Wh / l.

The car weighs everything 1.750 kg, which is also due to the use of magnesium for rims, aluminum alloy brake discs and carbon fiber reinforced plastic body parts. 117 solar panels have been installed in the roof, providing energy for up to 25 km of additional range. Low consumption while driving, which should not exceed 10 kWh / 100 km, but among other things it also allows low drag coefficient (0,17) and the use of low rolling resistance tires.

As far as the powertrain is concerned, all we know for now is that the rear pair of wheels is powered by an electric motor with power 150 kW (204 HP) and 95% efficiency of electricity from batteries.

Inside, of course, Mercedes would not be a Mercedes if it did not offer an adequate level of prestige. He will take care of providing the information 47,5-inch screen 8K in front of driver and front passenger, smaller than 56-inch system screen MBUX hyperscreen in electric Mercedes EQS, but is expected to offer even more extra features. A range of sustainably sourced materials have been used in the interior, including seat covers made from material derived from cacti in vegan leather.

Despite that Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX the study, which in such an image will most likely not be seen in the serial version, but it is certainly true that the acquired knowledge and experience will certainly be used in the design of models of the future.
