Odkar Škoda operates under the umbrella of the group VW, the brand really blossomed. The last example is the fourth generation of the model Superb, which has now been introduced and again shares many components with VW Passat, which is also new. Unlike the model from Wolfsburg but the Czech model is not only available as a station wagon, but also as a wagon sedan with hatchback. What else can he do? Let's see the details…
Like any Škoda is also the new Superb rather unspectacularly designed car for families and fleets. Z plenty of space and exceptional functionality, which is unmatched in this shrinking segment.
Dimensions: longer, higher, narrower
While it is Wheelbase remained unchanged and amounts to 2.841 millimeters, the proportions of the model have changed significantly, as they both body versions now for 15 millimeters narrower. It's a limousine 43 millimeters longer and 12 millimeters higher, and the station wagon 40 millimeters longer and 5 millimeters higher. The bodywork may look familiar at first glance, but it is significantly thinner than before, as the drag coefficient has increased hatchback reduced by 10 percent on 0,23. Transformation measures pay off in terms of headroom front and rear passengers, with luggage space increasing by 20 liters per 645 liters for a sedan and for 30 liters per 690 liters at the station wagon. The size of the alloy wheels is from 16 to 19 inches, and it is available eight colors bodies, six of which are new: “Purity White","Ice Tea Yellow","Cobalt Blue","Ebony Black","Carmine Red"In"Pebble Silver".
Brand new interior
While it is Škoda adapted the external form more evolutionarily, it was interior completely renovated by removing most of the traditional controls. While there is still a button or two for analog access to functions, most of the time it will be in the future intended for the screen. The infotainment system is great 10 or 13 inches, depending on the level of equipment, 10 inch digital display behind the wheel is standard. It's a first for a model Superb also available for an additional fee head-up display.
Na center console are the most important three buttons with 1,25-inch screens. Škoda names them Smart Dials and points out that they are configurable. The external ones are used for setting as standard heating and ventilation seats and internal temperature. S medium you can set volume, driving modes, fan speed and air direction. They are next to the new smart buttons normal buttons for windshield ventilation, rear window heating, air recirculation and automatic climate control.
Engines: petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid
Engine program includes conventional VAG engines. It starts with 1,5-liter gasoline engine with electrification MHEV. This engine produces 150 km (110 kW) and is only available with front-wheel drive. Bigger 2,0 liter engine is available with 204 km (150 kW) or 265 km (195 kW), the latter is available with all-wheel drive.
Pri diesel engines only 2 are available,0 liter four-cylinder engine with 150 km (110 kW) and four-wheel drive or 193 km (142 kW) and four-wheel drive. Regardless of engine Škoda installs in clean combustion engines 7-speed DSG gearbox. Speaking of the gearbox: gearshift lever was moved to steering column, in order to create space between the two seats.
Superb with plug-in hybrid drives together 1,5 liter gasoline motor with an electric motor, which allows system power 204 km (150 kW). Like the new Kodiaq, the Superb has an electric-only mode and 6-speed DSG gearboxIf 25,7 kWh battery pack can transport more than 100 kilometers. It can be charged up to 50 kW, and then needs , to charge from 0 to 80 percent.
More technology and lots of smart details
Škoda it wouldn't be Škoda without many "Simply Clever” functions. New ones Superb it combines as many as 28 of them. Some of them are new, for example the ones already mentioned smart choosers and an electrically operated filler cap on the wagon. Ice scraper on the inside of the fuel cap or dthe door in the driver's door but of course they are still in the vehicle. They are also in the luggage compartment folding hooks for bags, a clip for parking tickets on the windshield, a washing system with a reversing camera and USB port in the rearview mirror, to which a dashboard camera can be connected.
Škoda is also upgrading its technology: they will be available in the future Matrix LED headlights with 40 percent more light output or improved adaptive dampers, which are included as standard in the top equipment Laurin & Klement. The elegant L&K is available with all drive systems and offers as standard Canton sound system with 14 speakers, massaging front seats and new leather/leatherette interior.
Market introduction and pricing
The new Škoda Superb will no longer be produced on Czech Republic, but together with the new one VW Passat station wagon in Slovakia. So far, it is not known when the assembly lines will start, when they will be the first vehicles arrived at dealers and customers and how they will be in the future regulated prices.
