Škoda Epiq: First look at the sibling VW ID.2

With a new one Epiqom Too bad presents its own version of the future VW ID.2: the next small – and electric – SUV of the company was announced with a few trailers. These are still only computer illustrations, but they are useful for an initial idea about design images of the serial model, which should come to the market in 2025 and was supposed to stand around 25.000 euros.

Concept it is also the announcement of a new design language"Modern Solid", which will be typical for all future ones Skoda models. This look was first presented in a study Vision 7S. But let's get back to the future model epiq, whose name matches the name Enyag. As it is a design study, it is not certain that all elements will be included in the series models, but the overall look of the minimalist design is likely to be very similar in production.

Škoda presents the Epiq electric model, which will cost around 25.000 euros

On the front 4,10 meters long model Shame on the Epiq (the size of the Škoda Fabia model) is the so-called "Tech-Deck Face” in glossy black, which is a modern version Classic mask damage of the refrigerator, behind which the equipment for driver assistance systems is hidden. Units in the form the letter T for the daytime running lights are completely new, while the headlights (LED matrix) almost hidden in the lowered position. The flanks are muscular and marked with “innovative” linings along the profiles which Škoda describes as "innovative". It could be some sort of recycled material. On butt the motif reappears in lights that are not connected by an increasingly classic line of lights letters "T". Instead, the Škoda logo is illuminated in the middle of the rear door.

Interior new small Škoda SUV, which was already shown in the trailer, links to minimalist lines bodywork. Digital instruments are displayed on small monitor (similar to the Enyaq model), infotainment system and is available on the large central monitor. Directly below are the only ones physical buttons on the dashboard. Flywheel is a reinterpretation of the steering wheel, which is already found in many Skoda models, with two crossbars (the lower one is “broken” and not connected in the middle) and large control cylinders accompanied by some control buttons of the ADAS system, multimedia and more.

Despite the dimensions in the B segment epiq it promises a lot of space, because it has trunk 490 liters and (according to the manufacturer) the same amount of space as in the luxury class. Compared to Fabio, it has Czech small car already more than a decent 380 liters, similar to VW Golf. The press release did not say anything about the platform it will use Shame on the Epiq, but it's no secret. It's a platform MEB Entry, the same front-wheel drive platform as the production version of the Volkswagen model ID.2 and his colleague Cupra, named Raval. The Czech SUV will be equipped with batteries with with a range of about 400 kilometers. From 2025, all models will be assembled at the Volkswagen plant in Pamplona (Spain).

Škoda wants to achieve an entry price of around 25.000 euros, which of course can vary depending on the target market and different applicable taxes. The question is the connection to the device ID.2: Will it also be available “usual” version of the model epiq no SUV touch, that is the electric version of the Fabia? The company has talked about launching in the next few years six new electric models, and a small battery-powered model could be part of that group, but nothing has been decided yet.
