Alfa Romeo ended production of the 2020C in 4, but the mid-engine coupe made an unexpected comeback this year. Stellantis Heritage brings the sports car to life to celebrate with the 1300 OT 75th anniversary of Abarth. It is a modern tribute to the model Fiat-Abarth OT 1300 from 1965, using the 4C model as a base.
This is not the first unexpected return of the 4C. Abarth Classiche 1000 SP the 2021 model followed a similar formula, albeit as a convertible. As with the previous revival of the 4C model, the headlights in the bug-eye designs questionable for many. The rest of it seems cool, though we'd still prefer the original 4C.
Abarth Classiche 1300 OT it features carbon fiber bodywork, rear louvres and a periscope sunroof in homage to the successful racing car of the 1960s. It has a wide cooling opening on the back visible Abarth lettering, so everyone knows this is no ordinary 4C. The twin exhaust tips of the original model, which were placed in the middle of the trapezoidal shape, have been omitted. You won't find any Alfa Romeo badges either, as Abarth has installed its Scorpion instead.
We contacted the company Stellantis Heritage, to determine if the car is based on leftover 4C chassis or conversions of existing cars. Alfa Romeo may still have some unused chassis, engines and transmissions that they are now reusing for limited edition Abarth.
The company Stellantis Heritage has confirmed that it will Abarth 1300 OT based on already produced cars: "All five units will be built on existing and registered Alfa Romeo 4C cars with low mileage, which will be refurbished by Stellantis."
