Alfa Romeo Sprint is an interesting restomod revealed by the Portuguese engineering company Alma, which specializes in restoring and tuning vintage cars. Purchases based Alfasuda it receives a series of exterior, interior and mechanical upgrades inspired by a forgotten rally car project the fearsome group B, which they never realized.
It's 1982 Autodelta developed the Sprint rally prototype with a mid-engine layout and a wide body designed by him Zagato. Sprint 6c unfortunately it didn't end up on the Group B rally stage, although it fired the imagination of fans of the brand Alfa Romeo and spurred some independent remakes.
This year we got a new restomod example inspired by a never completed rally car. Car body Soul Sprint made of composite materials, it has boxy fender flares, customized bumpers, stylish mirrors and an integrated rear spoiler. The four round headlights have received the company's modern headlights Hella, installed in a new aluminum housing.
The cabin is upholstered with alcantara and equipped with aluminum inserts. The Zagato steering wheel is combined with a custom-made aluminum shifter. Web thickness says the new seats and repositioned steering wheel have improved the driving position, while the 4-point seat belts Sabelt contribute to a motorsport-inspired look. Finally, a Bluetooth speaker is also available.
The Alma Sprint does not have a mid-mounted engine V6 I knock from the rally prototype, but has more than a few mechanical component upgrades. The four-cylinder boxer engine of the original is increased to 1,8 liters, it has reshaped heads, forged pistons, custom camshafts, a custom valvetrain, and a pair of Dellort carburetors.
The modified powertrain produces 118 kW (160 HP), which is a significant improvement over any production version of the model Sprint – including version Green Quadrifoglio. Note that restomod weighs 880 kg, which means that the power-to-weight ratio is very good. In addition, the close-ratio five-speed manual transmission can optionally be combined with a limited-slip differential Torsos on the front axle.
Other upgrades include adjustable dampers for better handling, larger ventilated discs and "motorsport components".
Alma wants to make 20 examples of Alfa Romeo Sprint restomod, with each instance being tailored to the owner based on an 'extensive range of options'. Pricing has not been disclosed, but first deliveries are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2024.
