The new Renault Grand Koleos is presented as a hybrid based on Geely and Volvo models

Renault is at the car show in Busan presented the new hybrid SUV Grand Koleos in South Korea. Interestingly, this model has nothing in common with the previous generation Koleos, as it is largely based on Geely's SUV.

As can be seen from its proportions and design, it is Renault Grand Koleos model twin Geely Xingyue L, which premiered in 2021. As the first product of the partnership between the two companies Geely in Renault but it has more than just a few redesigned body elements.

The company also introduced a variant Spirit Alpine, which is the flagship of the offer.

The front part took over characteristically Renault mask and intakes in the bumper, while the headlights feature new LED graphics. The profile looks familiar, but the sheet metal is new and the top of the car is slightly modified towards the rear. The rear, on the other hand, is carried over with minor changes to the bumper and tailgate.

The company also introduced a variant Spirit Alpine, which is the flagship of the offer. This model features blue exterior accents, Alpine badging on the fenders and unique 20-inch wheels. Inside, it has a dark colored cabin with blue stitching and Alcantara inserts. All versions are equipped with a triple 12,3-inch screen layout from the manufacturer Geely, which covers most of the dashboard.

Bigger than expected, with a hybrid powertrain

Renault Grand Koleosv measures 4.780 mm in length, and its wheelbase is 2.820 mm. It is thus larger than the outgoing Koleos model and SUVs Austral in Space. The interior is available exclusively in a five-seat configuration and offers a large trunk with 633 liters of volume.

Renault Grand Koleos, like its twin Geely Xingyue L, is based on the CMA architecture, which is also used by the Volvo XC40 and several models from the company Geely and Lynk & Co. Under the hood, there are options for internal combustion powertrains and hybrid powertrains, though the platform is also compatible with electric vehicle configurations.

The electrified configuration consists of a 1,5-liter turbocharged engine and two electric motors that together produce 180 kW (245 HP). There is also a 2,0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 155 kW (211 HP). In both cases, power is sent to the front axle, with all-wheel drive also available on the combustion engine model.

Renault Grand Koleos will be available in South Korea starting this fall, with the company already accepting applications from interested parties. It is currently unclear whether Renault plans to export the model to other markets.
