There are different organized road trips every year, but the Carbage run is unique in several ways. It takes you to beautiful places and roads that are far from the tourist mainstream and lives on the basis of a strong community of car enthusiasts. Condition for participation: your car must be a rust bucket!
This is no ordinary trip
Cars participating in the Carbage run can be recognized from a distance. And not because of the stickers on the doors with the starting numbers or the rally signs on the windshield! Although the vehicles are old and cheap, they are decorated in many ways for the Carbage run, so they are a real feast for the eyes. And Carbage run participants love their cars, whether they're driving them to the finish line sitting on their roofs or lying underneath them to get them going again.
Some participants are present in almost every edition, as no two are the same. New countries, new routes, new challenging routes. But always guaranteed on the most beautiful roads that Europe has to offer.
Rusty bucket
The name of the excursion "Carbage run" (car + garbage) almost says it all. Participating vehicles must be at least 20 years old, and their value at the start of the trip must not exceed 1.000 euros. Participants can repair and adapt the vehicle at will, as long as the vehicle is technically flawless.
You're never quite sure if you'll make it to your next destination without a breakdown, but you never have to worry about being alone. No competitor leaves another by the side of the road, with some going back hours to get spare parts and expertise where they are needed. Community is the heart of the Carbage run project.
Milestones
During the Carbage run, competitors do not see their fellow passengers only at the start and finish or in the event of a breakdown. After each successfully completed day, they gather again in the camps at the stage destinations and can talk about the day's adventures over local food and beer. And there is always something to say! The trails reveal new gems every day, and if that's not enough, you can face daily challenges that can often only be solved with the help of the local population. And if you still have some energy left after a long day, you can enjoy live music.
The biggest prize of the week is undoubtedly the priceless memories. There are also cash prizes for the teams that collect the most points in the challenges and for the coolest designed vehicle on the course, voted on by the participants. Carbage run takes you to beautiful places and roads that are far from the main tourist stream.
Where are future editions of the Carbage run series headed?
In the summer of 2025, it's that time again. At the end of June, the trip to the Baltic states, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia will begin, and at the end of August, the route will lead us to Serbia and Bosnia in the Balkans.
