GAC Aion V: Global electric SUV for Europe

It's always nice to receive press releases without much substance. Like now from GAC. The Chinese brand has unveiled its new electric SUV at the 2024 Paris Motor Show. However, she did not provide any details on dimensions or specifications.

Instead, it simply states that it is a global strategic model aimed at the European market: “This all-electric SUV has been developed with the specific needs and desires of European consumers in mind, combining cutting-edge technology, cutting-edge design and advanced safety features. The Aion V, with its robust exterior and sophisticated interior, is equipped with GAC's leading EIC (Electric, Intelligent and Connected) systems that provide a high-tech driving experience and enhanced safety.”

A look at the online encyclopedia sheds light on the subject. The second generation GAC Aion V model was presented at the Beijing Motor Show in April 2024. It was launched on the Chinese market in July 2024. With a length of 4,61 meters, a width of 1,85 meters and a height of 1,69 meters, the vehicle is slightly smaller than the first generations.

Three battery sizes are available: 62,7 kWh, 75,3 kWh and 90,2 kWh, all LFP. The smallest battery is connected to a weaker machine with a power of 150 kW, while the other two are available in combination with a power of 165 kW. According to the manufacturer, the debut of the Aion V is part of GAC's wider "European market plan" which focuses on "market expansion, green mobility and cultural integration".

Text: “As one of the few car manufacturers that can independently research, develop and produce BEV batteries, GAC is positioned as a major player in the fast-growing European electric vehicle market. The presentation of pioneering technologies, including European-standard charging stations, solid-state batteries and carbon-ceramic brake discs, underlined GAC's commitment to new energy innovation.”

GAC, which plans to introduce larger models in Europe in the next few years, including a B-class SUV and a hatchback, wants to focus on offering customized solutions for European consumers. The Aion V will be officially launched on the European market next year, but prices have not yet been finalized.
