This year's Tune It! Safe! is the AC Schnitzer BMW M2

When there's news of a performance vehicle in police livery, you know it's Essen Motor Show time again. This year, the subject of car-addicted law enforcement officials' wet dreams will be a converted BMW M2 by the Bavarian brand's vehicle conversion specialist, which goes by the name of AC Schnitzer.

This is the twentieth vehicle of the Tune It! Safe!, which claims that attractive creative tuning does not necessarily conflict with legal requirements. In addition to tire manufacturer Hankook and the Essen Motor Show, the Federal Ministry for Digital Technology and Transport, the TÜV, several car clubs and various associations such as the VDAT (Verband Deutscher Automobil Tuner) are involved in the development of the car.

The donor vehicle was kindly provided by the BMW company, and tuned, as already mentioned, by the AC Schnitzer company. Changes include an increase in power and torque to 412 kW (560 hp) and 650 Nm. The police M2 therefore has (74 kW) 100 hp and 100 Nm more than the standard vehicle, which is apparently still the pre-facelift M2 (with the facelift, the standard power of the M2 increased to 353 kW (480 hp). So that the siren would not be needed too often , the sound has been upgraded with a sports muffler with 110mm tailpipes and carbon finishers.

To increase driving dynamics, AC Schnitzer relies on the RS suspension with a set of standard electronic dampers. This allows the vehicle to be lowered by 25 to 35 mm, depending on the driver's choice. In addition, there are 20-inch gold-colored forged wheels at the front and 21-inch rear, which according to AC Schnitzer reduce the overall weight of the vehicle, weighing 11,8 and 12,8 kilograms respectively. They are of course fitted with Hankook tires. They used the Ventus S1 evo 3 model with dimensions of 285/30 R20 at the front and 295/25 R21 at the rear.

Credibility in the rearview mirror is ensured by an aerodynamic kit consisting of a front sill, side moldings, a roof spoiler and a specially designed carbon rear wing.
