VW is bringing back the American Scout brand with new electric off-road vehicles

The exciting thing about this is that both Scout models are actually fully electric cars. With 800-volt technology (which allows a maximum charge of up to 350 kW), 1300 Nm of torque, a sprint to 100 km/h in about 3,5 seconds and a range of about 500 km. However, an optional extended-range energy system is also available. The vehicle also has a gasoline generator, which should increase the range to 800 km. Read on, Tesla Cybertruck.

Built on a new ladder frame platform, the new Scouts can be equipped with tires up to 35 inches in size. Their distance from the ground is more than 30 centimeters, and the wading depth is about one meter. Mechanical advantages of off-road vehicles include a front anti-roll bar release, mechanical locks at the front and rear, and a solid rear axle.

Scout estimates that the Traveler SUV can tow more than 7.000 kilograms and the Terra pickup can tow more than 10.000 kilograms. Both can carry nearly 2.000 kilograms of payload. The Scout Terra has a decent cargo area, almost 1,70 meters long, including 120 and 240 volt outlets. The Traveler, however, has a built-in spare tire carrier that can accommodate a full-size 35-inch spare wheel. The Terra can only accommodate a 33-inch spare wheel, but you can also opt for a trunk-mounted tire carrier that can accommodate a 35-inch spare wheel.

Inside, the physical climate control buttons are located below the large center display, with the Scout's design based on the original Scout II. The manufacturer will offer the Terra model with an optional front bench seat that replaces the multifunction center console. It will also be equipped with mechanical door handles.

Interested buyers can reserve their favorite version today for $100. The entry-level Traveler model will start at around $50.000 with discounts, while the Terra model will start at $51.500. But it's not just money that's needed, patience is also needed, as Scout doesn't plan to start production until 2027.
