Honda with new factory for solid electrolyte batteries

Recently, there has been a lot of talk about the electric future of the Honda brand. The brand is working with Nissan on electric vehicles and is preparing a completely new family of electric vehicles on a dedicated electric vehicle platform. The first of these, a production version of the special Honda Saloon from the so-called 0 Series, is expected to arrive in 2026. In addition, Honda is also working with Sony on the Afeela brand of electric vehicles.

Now fans of the brand were pleasantly surprised by another piece of good news. On home soil, in the city of Sakura, the doors of a brand new battery factory are opening. In January, they will start the production of pre-series batteries with solid electrolyte. These batteries are still part of the development process and production for now is mainly intended for use in research and development, but the batteries are expected to appear on the market later this decade. By the way, the batteries should also be able to be used in other means of transport, and it will also be possible to use them for self-service at home. Honda also wants to use them in its motorcycles and airplanes, among other things.

We will still have to wait a little longer for Honda's first car with a battery. Lithium-ion batteries are still planned for the 0 series.
