It beat the previous record held by a converted Porsche 911 GT2 RS by a whopping 10 seconds. Driven by Le Mans winner Darren Turner, the Valkyrie even overtook the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 on slick tires, cementing its position as a performance racer.
Nearing the end of production, Aston Martin's flagship hypercar boasts a complex chassis that generates 1.100kg of downforce, fittingly contributing to its outstanding track performance. Despite slightly damp conditions due to light rain before the test itself, the Valkyrie reached a top speed of 330 km/h and achieved more than 3,3 g in the corners.
Turner expressed his astonishment at the car's performance, saying: "It amazes me that this is a road car that you can drive to Silverstone and then go faster than the track lap record in the British GT Championship." This achievement highlights the outstanding combination of utility on road and track performance offered by the Valkyrie.
Although Aston Martin initially claimed the Valkyrie would be as fast as an F1 car, it failed to beat Max Verstappen's record of 1:27,097. Still, the Valkyrie is undeniably impressive and sets a new benchmark for production road cars at Silverstone.
