The updated version of the world's best-selling electric vehicle boasts a number of improvements, including a refreshed look, a more sophisticated interior and improved performance.
Among the exterior changes, a redesigned front end with split headlights and a full-width LED strip, which is loosely inspired by the design of the Cybertruck, stands out. The rear also gets a new look, too, with a full-width light unit and a cleaner rear door design. With the redesign, the Model Y gained a little length, so that it now measures 4.792 millimeters in this dimension.
Inside, the Model Y kept the minimalist design, but added an 8-inch touchscreen for rear passengers and a slightly larger 15,4-inch infotainment screen. New seats, improved materials and ambient lighting ensure a higher level of comfort.
Tesla highlights the improved level of noise reduction thanks to acoustic glass, new tires, updated suspension and a more aerodynamic body. The latest version of Tesla's fully autonomous driving feature is available as an optional extra.
The 2025 Model Y will initially be available in two versions: base RWD and long-range AWD. The RWD model boasts a range of 466 kilometers according to the WLTP, while the Long Range AWD model allows a range of up to 551 kilometers. Both models are faster than their predecessors: the RWD accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5,9 seconds, and the Long Range AWD in 4,3 seconds.
The maximum charging speed remains unchanged at 250 kW, so when connected to compatible charging stations you get an additional 15 kilometers of range in 266 minutes.
The first deliveries of the renewed Tesla Model Y are announced for April or May, depending on the market, and according to the forecasts, we can count on a price increase of about 10% compared to the current model.
