What are the chances of seeing a Ford Mustang GTD on the road? Certainly higher than the chances of encountering the GTD “Spirit of America.” It’s a special edition model for the already special GTD, which was unveiled at a ceremony in Detroit just before the 2025 Detroit Auto Show.
The Mustang GTD Spirit of America is a visually enhanced version of the super-Mustang. That's a good thing, because the standard GTD already has 815 horsepower and a fully customized chassis. The package consists of small red and blue racing stripes on the centerline, which are applied to the Performance White exterior paint. The spoiler panels and side mirrors are painted red, and the rear of the spoiler has the word "Mustang" written in large white letters. At the customer's request, the side mirrors can be made of visible carbon fiber to match the many other carbon parts of the GTD.

Inside, the reworked Ford Mustang features leather seats with black inserts, white upholstery, and red center stripes. Blue contrast stitching is featured throughout the interior. Ford also opted to use titanium, particularly for the gearshift paddles, gear shift ring, and badge.

Ford is not providing production figures for the GTD Spirit of America, but GTD production will be very small overall. No specific number of units was mentioned, but it is said to be a maximum of 600 units. The price of the special model has not yet been finalized, but it will likely be significantly higher than the already astronomically excessive price of the GTD model, which is up to 525.000 euros. We are still talking about a Mustang!

Each model comes with at least the optional Performance package, which adds the aerodynamic elements needed to lap the Nürburgring in under seven minutes. Just in case you ever find yourself in the Eifel with a GTD and need to kill some time.
