The Cupra Leon and Formentor will be the brand's first models to be available in a special ABT edition in 2026.
German tuner ABT, best known for its Audi conversions, has been looking into converting other Volkswagen Group brands in recent years, and at its headquarters in Kempten, Germany, they are unveiling a new partnership with Cupra. This partnership is not entirely new, as Cupra and ABT have previously collaborated in motorsport, specifically in the Extreme E and Formula E series, but some of Cupra's road cars will be able to boast the ABT badge for the first time.

The first models to receive the ABT treatment will be the Leon and Formentor. Although ABT already offers an aftermarket body kit for the aforementioned models, Cupra will start offering special editions of the Formentor and Leon with a standard ABT upgrade in 2026. On the exterior, the models will receive a host of aesthetic additions, such as upgraded 21-inch wheels, a larger rear spoiler and front splitter, sharper sills, a more aggressive rear diffuser and, of course, the indispensable ABT badging.

While the official reveal of the collaboration didn't mention any performance differences, there's a chance that the ABT Leon and Formentor will be limited to cosmetic upgrades. However, that doesn't mean ABT will leave sports enthusiasts completely in the lurch, as ABT's existing aftermarket body kit also includes stiffer springs for improved handling and, of course, engine upgrades, so all hope is not lost.
According to ABT, the Cupra Leon and Formentor are “just the beginning of a long-term collaboration in the coming years,” so we can expect more ABT interpretations of other Cupra models, such as the Tavascan, Terramar, Born, and the upcoming Raval.
