This year, Opel once again supported the XS Carnight festival on Lake Wörthersee. The festival is a mix of car shows and other public events that attracts many enthusiasts of converted cars to Klagenfurt.
At the end of April, they mysteriously announced a “bold world premiere” for this very event in Rüsselsheim. But they couldn’t stay quiet for long. In the meantime, we learned that the GSE sub-brand would be back – with a rally version of the Opel Mocca GSE. Now there’s another novelty: the Opel Grandland Gravel, which was presented at Wörthersee. And it’s equipped as if it were on its way to the next Dakar Rally. The show car shows what a real adventure version of the family SUV could look like.

“The new Opel Frontera already stands out from the crowd. It is robust, practical and perfect for families and everyday adventures. But with the even tougher, bolder and revolutionary Frontera Gravel, we have gone to the extreme. With this concept, we want to continue to excite our fans and at the same time test the desire for an even bolder and more robust Frontera for the future. It is about freedom, adventure, excitement and pushing boundaries,” says Rebecca Reinermann, Opel Marketing Director.
The Gravel is based on the fully electric production version of the Frontera, with which Opel aims to highlight the advantages of a zero-emission local vehicle designed for outdoor adventures. To ensure that the Frontera Gravel is also equipped for off-road driving, it is fitted with special 7-inch CWE-16-inch Borbet wheels and BF-Goodrich rough-terrain tires.

The Opel Frontera Gravel also gets an adventurous foil. The sand brown paint called “Desert Stone” contrasts with the matte black roof and matte black hood. It also has orange accents on the exterior mirror housings, on the front and rear bumpers and on the roof spoiler. The Opel lightning bolt in the black visor and the roof rack also come in a vibrant color.
In addition, there are some additional accessories for demanding adventures. The Thule Canyon XT roof rack not only increases storage space, but also improves visibility. It has space for additional headlights, which provide better illumination of rough terrain in the dark. These are complemented by another headlight on the hood. In addition, there is a winch at the front for pulling the vehicle out of the mud and side storage compartments at the rear.

Inside, bright orange microfiber seats emphasize the adventurous nature of the Frontera Gravel. The interior roof lining is entirely black. The Frontera Gravel was created in collaboration with motorsport partners BlackFish and XS, and made its public debut on May 30 at Carnight.
