The study, which was presented as a hologram at the IAA, is clearly intended to convince other brands to buy the front-wheel drive MEB+ model.
The renowned Italian design house Italdesign, part of Audi, has now designed a 2+2-seater electric coupe based on the Modular Electric Toolkit (MEB) in the new MEB+ version with front-wheel drive.
This means that the vehicle is based on the same technology as the family of electric city cars, i.e. VW ID. Polo, Cupra Raval, Škoda Epiq and VW ID. Cross. In this way, the group wants to show what shapes are possible on this basis. However, the vehicle only exists in the form of a 3D rendering. It will be presented as a hologram at the Volkswagen IAA stand. It is intended to show how flexible and expandable the modular system is. That is why Italdesign also calls the vehicle a “3D study of proportions”.

Wolfsburg continues to sell its electrical components and MEB to external manufacturers. That is why the Volkswagen Platform Business also received the order for the study. The goal now is to show customers what forms are possible with the VW modular system. A series launch is not planned.
According to Italdesign, the EVX is a 2+2-seat three-door coupe. It is 4,23 meters long, 1,82 meters wide and 1,49 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2,6 meters. The height of 1,49 meters is low for a MEB vehicle: the ID. The Polo is 1,53 meters high, and the ID.3 is 1,56 meters high.

The VW Group announced in early 2019 that the MEB and its components would also be available for sale to competitors, even before the launch of the first VW ID.3 model. At the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the group also presented daring MEB-based vehicles, such as a beach buggy.
| Length | Width | Height | Between | |
| EVX Project | 4,23 m | 1,82 m | 1,49 m | 2,60 m |
| VW ID. Polo | 4,05 m | 1,82 m | 1,53 m | No information |
| VW ID. Cross Concept | 4,16 m | 1,84 m | 1,59 m | 2,60 m |
VW has so far been only moderately successful in selling the MEB model. The biggest success has certainly been the collaboration with Ford: the Explorer and Capri are based on the MEB; these are versions of the VW ID.4 and ID.5, respectively. Extending the collaboration to a family of electric city cars seemed conceivable to Ford Europe boss Martin Sander in 2023; the Fiesta, which was discontinued with an internal combustion engine, could be reintroduced based on the MEB+.

Mahindra's "Born Electric" models use only individual MEB components. They will also get a standardized cell, which will be produced in Salzgitter from 2026, and in Valencia a year later. There are also plans for electric boats powered by MEB.
