The press release isn't very long. In three sentences, Bentley just confirmed the imminent return of the Continental Supersports model.
The press release says it's "a rare Bentley that can't wait to be revealed." There's also the teaser image above of a matte black Conti GT with a much more aggressive rear bumper and rear spoiler, as well as a 29-second video that doesn't say much else.

However, as is often the case, our colleagues at the British Autocar already know more. According to them, the new Continental GT Supersports is an unusually sporty and performance-oriented version of the luxury coupe. The car is also said to be the predecessor to a series of new “extreme” performance cars from Crewe. Let’s recall that the rather rarely used Supersports name on Bentley last appeared in 2017 on the predecessor of the current Conti GT model.

At the time, the top model was still powered by a 6,0-liter W12 engine with 710 hp. Now, however, it's going in a completely different direction. Apparently, they're more interested in sportiness. The flagship performance model is expected to have a V8 engine with around 650 hp and rear-wheel drive. With the W12 now retired and the focus on V8 power, the supercar will have less power than its predecessor.
It will also likely be less powerful than its two-series siblings. After its last facelift last year, the Continental GT is now only available with a V8 plug-in hybrid engine in two versions: 680 (click here to test drive) and 780 hp. However, it is believed that the new Supersports will be marketed completely differently and as a “pure performance model”, thanks to extremely lightweight construction measures, the elimination of electrification and the abandonment of all-wheel drive.

As is often the case, the key to the exceptional performance lies in weight-saving measures. According to sources, the vehicle will weigh around 2000 kilograms, which is almost 500 kilograms less than the current top-of-the-line GT Speed model with 780 hp. This would make the Supersports the lightest Bentley in decades. In addition to the elimination of the hybrid system and all-wheel drive, carbon fiber body parts, much lighter sports seats and the elimination of the rear bench are likely responsible for the significant weight reduction.
As Autocar reports, the number of vehicles will be strictly limited. The number of units will likely be in the low three-digit range. You can also expect a significant price premium compared to the minimum price of 275.000 euros, which is currently required for the GT Speed. Expect to pay more than 400.000 euros. The premiere of the Continental GT Supersports is planned for this year, with the first deliveries starting in late 2026.
