Let's not kid ourselves: the Jeep Renegade never had the best reputation, and it wasn't anything special to drive either. Despite this, it remained in the range for about eleven years. During this time, more than 50.000 units were sold in Germany. Power probably played a more subordinate role. The most powerful Renegade was lastly a 4xe plug-in hybrid with 240 hp. But the American owner apparently had a completely different opinion about power.
The idea of using a Jeep Renegade for an uncompromising performance upgrade is something that has to be thought of first. This example has over 500 (!) horsepower, an extremely wide body and a racing-style interior. Let's repeat: in a Renegade. The project is the responsibility of Instagram user lunchie_b, who has taken Jeep's second smallest SUV far beyond its original purpose.
The biggest surprise, of course, is under the hood. Instead of the standard four-cylinder engine, a 5,7-liter Hemi-V8 now operates. This engine is also used in models such as the Challenger, Charger and Ram 1500. The manufacturer does not provide specific performance data. In the series, however, the Hemi already reaches almost 400 hp. In conjunction with numerous performance changes, a performance of more than 500 hp seems realistic.
Such performance figures require further optimization. The owner installed a differential and six-piston Brembo brake calipers from a Charger Hellcat. The Renegade now drives with rear-wheel drive. This brings performance and braking values to sports car levels. At the same time, the conversion required extensive structural interventions and extensive custom manufacturing.
The optical vehicle is not lagging behind in technology. The Renegade has received a rather epic widebody kit with greatly widened fenders and new bumpers. Let's say that the car is extremely stable on the road. Its appearance is more reminiscent of an extreme showcar than an urban crossover model. The designer also went all out with the wheels and tires. The golden wheels look very wide and concave. They are equipped with tires measuring 275/40 R20 at the front and 305/35 R20 at the rear.
Many additional components were made using 3D printing. This allowed the designer to create special components that were precisely tailored to this project. This ranges from the supporting beams to the fine details that cannot be purchased.
The interior also looks quite radical. The stock seats have been replaced with Sparco seats. Additional displays on the A-pillar monitor important engine data. The wiring harness, controls and even the automatic selector lever come from the Dodge Charger. How much the conversion cost is unknown. The result is decisive. This Jeep Renegade is truly unique. Of course, we don't know how well it drives, but it certainly looks like it's a lot of fun.
