The electric sedan of the future brings “Neue Klasse” technology and promises an astonishing 900 kilometers of driving on a single charge.
With the i3, the second iteration of the “Neue Klasse” platform, BMW is targeting the important commercial vehicle market directly and setting new design standards. The electric sedan measures 4,76 meters long, 1,86 meters wide and 1,48 meters high (with a wheelbase of 2,90 meters), which means it is slightly larger than the current “three” with an internal combustion engine.

In terms of design, it retains the recognisability of the 3 Series, but brings sharper lines, an emphasised width without a particularly high grille (the “Iconic Glow” lighting is available as an option), and aerodynamic solutions such as hidden door handles and wheels up to 21 inches in size.

The interior is inspired by the futuristic cockpit of the iX3, with a wide screen just below the windscreen, creating a unique enveloping effect for the occupants. The i3 50 xDrive will be the flagship model at launch with two electric motors and all-wheel drive, developing 345 kW (469 PS) of system power and 645 Nm of torque. The real revolution, however, lies in the advanced 800-volt architecture, which, in conjunction with the smooth chassis, enables this sedan to achieve an exceptional electric range of up to 900 kilometers.

Charging will be lightning fast, as the new i3 supports charging power of up to 400 kW at 800-volt fast chargers (DC), which in practice means an incredible 400 kilometers of additional range in just ten minutes (optional AC charging of up to 22 kW will also be supported). Production of this advanced sedan will begin in Munich in August 2026, and the first customers will get behind the wheel in the fall. Although BMW has not yet revealed official prices, according to our estimates, we expect prices to start at around EUR 65.000.
