The compact electric hatchback delivers spaciousness, advanced technologies and a range of up to 496 kilometers.
Hyundai has introduced the new Ioniq 3 for the European market, the entry-level model in its all-electric family, measuring between 4155 and 4170 millimeters in length. The vehicle, which is sized between the Inster and Kona Electric, is designed as an “aerodynamic hatchback” with a favorable drag coefficient of 0,263, and shares its 400-volt E-GMP architecture with its related Kia EV3 and EV4 models. Despite the bolder design elements of last year’s concept, the production version has retained the practical five-door design with recognizable split LED lights, and customers will also be able to choose a sportier N Line equipment package with 19-inch wheels.

Two front-wheel drive versions will be available at launch. The base model (Standard Range) is powered by an electric motor with 108 kW (147 hp) and 250 Nm of torque, which, in combination with a 42,2 kWh battery, allows for a range of up to 344 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. The Long Range version surprisingly offers a slightly lower power of 100 kW (136 hp) and the same torque of 250 Nm, but thanks to a larger battery with a capacity of 61 kWh, it provides a range of up to 496 kilometers on a single charge. There is also talk of the arrival of a more powerful, truly sporty version of the N division, which, following the example of related models, could offer a dual-motor drive with up to 215 kW (292 hp).

The passenger compartment is based on modern technologies and spaciousness, as its centerpiece is a free-standing touchscreen display measuring up to 14,6 inches with the new Pleos infotainment system, based on Google solutions. The control of important functions remains user-friendly with the retained physical switches and a convenient gear lever behind the steering wheel, which frees up space on the center console. The compact Ioniq 3 also boasts a very competitive trunk with a capacity of 441 liters and a double floor, and production for the European market will take place in Turkey, from where the model will go into battle with strong competition in the B-SUV and compact hatchback segments.
