Last year, Mercedes-AMG presented the CONCEPT AMG GT TRACK SPORT, a concept car specifically designed to achieve maximum performance, which attracted the attention of both the professional public and enthusiasts.
From the very beginning, the study was more than just a design or technology vision. It serves as a development platform for two independent models within the GT family. Specifically, it forms the basis for the next generation of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 and the upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series. The manufacturer is thus expanding its range both in the field of customer motorsport and in the segment of high-performance vehicles homologated for use on public roads.

The concept combines two development directions: on the one hand, the road-legal version serves as the basis for the homologation of the successor to the GT3, and on the other hand, it represents the technical starting point for the new Black Series model. The “TRACK SPORT” designation was deliberately chosen to emphasize the connection between uncompromising racing orientation and high performance suitable for road use. This strategic connection underlines the effort to systematically exploit the synergies between motorsport and production vehicle development.
Dynamic driving tests with a camouflaged prototype have been underway since October 2025. The tests are taking place on various tracks, including the company's own test site in Immendingen and established race tracks such as Bilster Berg, Portimão and Monteblanco.
With the start of test drives on the Nürburgring North Loop, development is entering a new phase, with the focus on durability, extreme driving characteristics and limit-setting. At the same time, the two model lines are clearly differentiated by their color schemes: red will in future denote the GT3 in the context of motorsport, while yellow-green will denote the Black Series models.

The development of the new GT3 is part of the long-term strategy of the customer sports car program. This program began in 2010, and the competition use of the SLS AMG GT3 began in 2011. With the introduction of the AMG GT3 in 2016 and its further development, the Evo, from 2020 onwards, this collaboration has been continuously expanded.
For the next generation, an in-house structure was established with the establishment of Affalterbach Racing GmbH, which focuses on vehicle development and production. The aim is to further increase competitiveness and set new standards in the areas of performance, safety and operational efficiency. At the same time, the tradition of the Black Series models continues. These have been particularly powerful versions in the range since 2006. Historically, this approach stems from the brand's focus on motorsport, the roots of which date back to 1967.

One of the first inspirations was the SLK 55 AMG, the racing version of which served as the starting point for the development of the first Black Series. The then internal project “TRACK SPORT” set itself the goal of transferring technology from the racetrack as directly as possible to a vehicle suitable for driving on public roads.
The CONCEPT AMG GT TRACK SPORT continues this tradition and carries it into the present. It acts as a link between racing car development and series production and lays the technical foundation for two different but closely related vehicle concepts. Further technical details on both models will be announced at a later date.
