Denmark may not have qualified for the 2026 World Cup, but at least in the automotive field, the “Danish Dynamite” is heading to the USA. Danish automaker Zenvo Automotive, which was founded about two decades ago in Præstøj, is introducing a new vehicle in the hypercar segment with the Aurora Agil.
The official market launch and first public appearance will take place at the New York International Auto Show. The vehicle, based on the Aurora, represents a significant step forward for the European company in the use of hybrid drive technologies, while maintaining large gasoline engines.
The technological heart of the Aurora Agil is a custom-built 6,6-liter V12 engine. Contrary to the industry trend towards downsizing, the Zenvo relies on a power unit supported by four turbochargers. This internal combustion engine, developed in collaboration with Mahle Powertrain, produces 1.250 hp on its own at a rated speed of up to 9.800 rpm.
By installing an electric hybrid system, the total system output is increased to up to 1.850 hp. This makes the Aurora Agile the most powerful V12 engine ever designed for a production vehicle with road homologation. The hybrid system not only serves to increase power, but also optimizes responsiveness and emissions values to meet current regulatory requirements.
The "Agil" version differs from the comfort-oriented "Tur" version in its consistent design, focused on lightweight construction and aerodynamic downforce. The vehicle is based on the so-called ZM1 monocoque, a carbon fiber construction that ensures high structural rigidity with a low kerb weight. The total vehicle weight is less than 1.300 kilograms, resulting in a favorable weight-to-power ratio.
The body shape is functional. Large parts of the chassis and wheel suspension have been left visible to optimise airflow. A distinctive feature of the Agile version is the large active rear spoiler. At high speeds, this acts as both a stabiliser and an air brake to support the braking performance of the carbon-ceramic braking system.
With the launch in New York, Zenvo is focusing even more on the North American market. The limited production and high level of individualization place the Aurora Agil in an exclusive market environment alongside established brands such as Koenigsegg or Pagani. The specific settings of the Agil are aimed at a group of users who use the vehicle primarily for dynamic driving on closed tracks.
