Although we are still waiting for sporty versions like the S6 and the eagerly awaited new RS 6, the new Audi A6 is already quite well established on the market. What was missing until now was a tuning program for the sixth generation of the business class from Ingolstadt. The world's largest tuner for Audis, Abt, has now taken care of that and presented its first improvements for the C9 series.
The focus is on the significant increase in power for both plug-in hybrid drives in the A6. The combination of a 2,0-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor in the standard version delivers 299 and 367 hp respectively. Maximum torque is 450 and 500 Nm respectively. After the intervention of Abt, 360 hp is available for the lower power level and 428 hp for the higher power level. Maximum torque is increased to 550 Nm for both versions.
“As a result, the power development is much more pronounced throughout the entire speed range, without changing the characteristics typical of a hybrid drive, such as quiet operation and suitability for everyday use,” the Kempten-based tuner enthusiastically writes in a press release.
The A6's appearance is enhanced by Abt's additions, such as a glossy black front spoiler, a rear spoiler and a rear spoiler with aerodynamic trim. This is complemented by the characteristic 4-pipe tailpipes and its own 21-inch wheels.
Those who want a slightly more dynamic ride can get suspension springs from the Allgäu manufacturer that provide a firmer setting and are said to "improve cornering response and driving feel." Abt talks about "a more direct driving feel overall, without limiting comfort over longer distances."
For the interior of the large Audi, the tuner offers door sill lighting and specially developed floor mats. The complete package for the A6 Avant Hybrid is available for 17.000 euros. This also includes the costs of assembly, painting and TÜV inspection. For vehicles with air suspension, a version without suspension springs is also available for 16.700 euros.
