Amidst the timeless architecture of Rome, the first edition of the Anantara Concorso Roma – La Dolce Vita delle Automobili took place from 16 to 19 April. The event used several historic locations in the city as a backdrop and brought together collectors, restorers and manufacturers of classic cars. Automobili Lamborghini presented the latest restoration from its classic car division.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of the legendary sports car. Lamborghini presented a particularly beautiful example from 1972 in Rome. The Miura SV was presented, which Lamborghini Polo Storico had thoroughly restored over three years. The aim was to return the car to its original condition upon delivery. Extensive archival research, in particular the original technical data sheet, formed the basis. The authenticity of the vehicle was finally confirmed.
The restoration of the Miura SV followed a strictly documented approach. The vehicle arrived in Sant'Agata Bolognese at the end of 2023 in a condition that did not correspond to the original. As part of the work, all relevant components were analyzed and, where necessary, restored to their correct condition. These included, among others, bodywork details such as air ducts, ventilation grilles and specific accessories. Technical elements such as the central locking system and the exhaust system were also renovated in accordance with historical specifications.
The interior was also restored to its original configuration. This included the restoration of the air conditioning system, adjustments to the controls and a return to the original colour scheme. The paint colour "Luci del Bosco" (literally: "forest lights", a colour with the same name also available on Alfa Romeo in the late 70s) and the interior trim in "Senat" were determined based on historical sources, as these specifications changed over the years of production.
In addition to this exhibit, three other historic vehicles of the brand, owned by private individuals, participated in the competition. Among them were two Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary examples and a Lamborghini Miura P400. The latter attracted particular attention due to its connection to the film The Italian Job. The vehicle was awarded in its competition category and also received a special mention related to film history.
The Miura P400 from the film has its own history. The vehicle was extensively modified for filming, but was not permanently altered or destroyed. Contrary to popular belief, the original vehicle was preserved. Its authenticity was later confirmed by Polo Storico. In 2019, it was restored and certified as part of the film's anniversary.
