The British automaker's McLaren Special Operations (MSO) division has unveiled the McLaren Artura 1000GP. The special edition has been developed to coincide with the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team's participation in its 1000th Formula One Grand Prix, which will take place at the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix.
Strictly limited to just ten examples for customers worldwide, the vehicle is set to mark a significant milestone in the history of the company’s racing division. The McLaren Artora 1000GP’s appearance is directly inspired by the special livery of the McLaren MCL40 Formula 1 car, which will be used by regular drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri at the Monte Carlo Grand Prix.
The exterior design, designed by MSO, includes special graphics with the word “1000GP” on the bonnet, lower body panels on the sides of the car and on the exterior mirror housings. This colour combination is complemented by contrasting pinstripes on the front splitter and rear diffuser, the colour scheme of which is inspired by McLaren’s historic racing colours. Inside, an anodised metallic papaya plaque commemorates the sporting milestone.
The company's history dates back to 1963, when New Zealander Bruce McLaren founded his own racing team. With a debut at the Monaco Grand Prix in 2026, McLaren will become only the second team in Formula One history to reach the milestone of 1.000 races. During this period, spanning more than six decades, the racing team has won ten constructors' world championships and more than 200 individual Grand Prix victories.
According to Nick Collins, Chief Executive of McLaren Group Holdings, the road and race car development departments share the same underlying technological and design philosophy, which this collector’s model is intended to exemplify. The special model serves as a direct link between the production Arturo hybrid sports car and the current Formula 1 MCL40 race car during this historic race weekend.
