Manhart MH5 900E Touring: This M5 Van Outshines Super Sports Cars

The BMW M5 Touring G91 is not a modest car even in its factory version. With a system output of 727 hp, 1.000 Nm of torque and a modern plug-in hybrid drive, this van is already approaching the level of a super sports car. It also offers enough space for the family and luggage and a look that fits perfectly in a business environment as well as in front of the home garage.

The Cologne-based tuner Manhart did not just make minor tweaks to the new MH5 900E Touring. The experts equipped the 4,4-liter biturbo V8 from the S68 series with their own turbo system upgrade and an additional MHtronik control module. The hybrid system continues to function, and the total output is significantly increased to 910 hp. The maximum torque rises to 1.200 Nm.

Manhart has also stepped up its offering in terms of sound. The stainless steel exhaust system with flap control is intended to sharpen the vehicle's appearance acoustically and is equipped with four 115 mm tailpipes in matt black. The exterior appearance remains deliberately discreet, while the sound gains in expressiveness. The connection is via Manhart Race Downpipes, which, however, do not have TÜV approval and are intended exclusively for export vehicles.

To effectively transfer the extra power of this powerful van to the road, Manhart offers two suspension solutions. Customers can opt for H&R lowering springs, which bring the MH5 900E Touring visually closer to the asphalt. Alternatively, the KW Variant 4 adjustable suspension is also available. It allows for more precise adjustments and is aimed at drivers who want to tailor the driving dynamics and appearance precisely to their needs.

The braking system on the vehicle shown remains unchanged. Given the significantly higher power, Manhart offers individually tailored braking system upgrades on request. This allows interested parties to adapt the system to the intended purpose of the vehicle, for example for regular racing on the racetrack or intensive highway driving.

The BMW M5 Touring already looks very muscular from the factory. Instead of a radical redesign, Manhart deliberately emphasizes individual elements. Characteristic decorative foils with decorative stripes and brand and model logos run along the body. The MH5 900E Touring is clearly recognizable as a Manhart conversion without overburdening the basic design.

The focus is on the rims. There is nothing here that resembles the series version. Manhart presents the MH5 900E with Concave One rims in matt black in sizes 21 and 22 inches. 10,5×21-inch wheels with 285/35 tires are mounted at the front, and 11,5×22-inch wheels with 305/30 tires at the rear. This gives the rims a much greater fill in the ruts. For customers looking for more exclusivity, 22-inch Concave One Forged wheels are available on all wheels.

Inside, the basic design of the M5 Touring remains unchanged. Manhart has purposefully supplemented it with its own details. Quilted floor mats bear the tuner's logo, and the Alcantara roof lining provides a higher-quality impression and a sportier look. Manhart does not mention other changes to the interior, but experience shows that individual solutions can be implemented on request.
