Renault's new pickup truck will be called Niagara

Renault continues its international product offensive and has now revealed the name of its new pick-up for the Latin American market. The model will be called Renault Niagara and is part of the “futuREady” strategic plan, with which the Group intends to launch a total of 14 new models on the market outside Europe by 2030.

The new pick-up is expected to play a central role, particularly in Latin America, where it will complement the brand's range of commercial vehicles and SUVs. Unlike the Nissan-based Alaskan model from a few years ago, it does not appear to be coming to Europe. With the Niagara, Renault continues its goal of expanding its international presence outside Europe and offering vehicles better adapted to regional market requirements.

In Latin America in particular, pick-ups have traditionally played a significant role – both as commercial vehicles and as versatile vehicles for leisure and family outings. Renault is therefore presenting the Niagara as a vehicle that combines robustness, everyday usability and modern technology.

Renault deliberately associated certain qualities with the choice of name. “Niagara” is intended to symbolize strength, solidity and endurance. At the same time, the name evokes nature, vastness and adventure. According to the company, the term comes from the language of North American natives and describes the thundering sound of water and the grandeur of the landscape around Niagara Falls. Renault sees this as an appropriate connection to a vehicle that has been developed for both everyday use and off-road driving.

Renault Niagara is visually and conceptually inspired by the Renault Niagara Concept, presented in 2023. The production version is expected to combine a robust design with modern technology, high usability in everyday life and versatile use options. Renault describes the model as a spacious and comfortable pick-up, intended for both private users and business customers. The manufacturer particularly emphasizes the combination of functionality, comfort and a distinctive appearance.

Latin America is a strategically important market for Renault. With the Niagara, the Group continues to expand its offering in the region. Renault recently launched the new Renault Boreal and Kardian models there. Niagara is now expected to complement this offering in the higher price range and, above all, to win new customers in the pick-up segment.

Jan Ptacek, Vice President of Renault's Light Commercial Vehicles business, described the Niagara as an important building block for the brand's further development in Latin America. The pick-up is expected to strengthen Renault's offering in the region and meet the diverse needs of customers with its versatility, spacious interior and robust design.

The Renault Niagara is being produced at the Córdoba plant in Argentina. The official world premiere is scheduled for September 10, 2026. The model is expected to be launched in several Latin American markets later this year. Renault has not yet provided technical details. The manufacturer has also not yet provided information on possible engines or electric versions.
