Alpina is dead, long live BMW Alpina! This subsidiary has belonged to the BMW Group since the beginning of the year. But how will things continue at the headquarters in Buchloe? Bovensiepen Automobile GmbH & Co. KG is now based there. This company has now announced the launch of a configurator for its first independent vehicle model, the Bovensiepen Zagato.
The Bovensiepen Zagato, which had its world premiere at the Fuori Concorso on Lake Como in May 2025, represents a technological and design symbiosis of Bavarian engineering and Italian design. The body was designed in collaboration with the traditional Milanese design studio Zagato and is characterized by classic proportions, such as the elongated front hood and the pronounced rear profile.
The Gran Turismo, based on the BMW M4, is limited to just 99 examples worldwide, underscoring the exclusive nature of this custom-built project. Each individual example is built at the Buchloe plant and takes more than 250 working hours. A key feature of the construction is the extensive use of lightweight materials; more than 400 precision-machined fasteners are made almost entirely of carbon fiber reinforced plastic.
The high standards of craftsmanship continue inside. For example, customers can opt for the full leather trim in Lavalina leather, which takes over 130 hours of manual work to produce. The online configuration tool now available allows interested parties to realize their individual wishes regarding the color scheme, exterior accents in visible carbon or the color of the brake calipers.
Under the hood of the Bovensiepen Zagato is a 3,0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that develops 449 kW (611 hp). Maximum torque is listed at 700 Nm. This is well above the level of the M4. These performance figures enable acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3,3 seconds, while the top speed exceeds 300 km/h.
Combined fuel consumption is estimated at 10,4 liters per 100 kilometers according to the WLTP procedure, which corresponds to CO emissions2 at 235 g/km. According to director Andreas Bovensiepen, special emphasis was placed on chassis tuning and creating an emotional engine sound during development.
The Zagato is not cheap, of course. Official sales will start at a base price of 369.495 euros, including statutory VAT, ex-factory in Buchloe. After an intensive testing phase in which the vehicle has covered several thousand kilometers, the company plans to deliver the first vehicles to customers in the third quarter of 2026.
The Bovensiepen brand, which brings together all competencies under one roof, from development to individualization, sees Zagato as just an introduction; further models are already in the planning stages. The family-owned company wants to establish itself as a provider for collectors and car enthusiasts who appreciate hand-crafted unique pieces that stand out from mass-produced cars.
