China's Hongqi presents the robust G919 SUV, which, with three differential locks and exceptional power, takes aim directly at the iconic Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
The Chinese brand Hongqi, traditionally known for luxury vehicles for the local political elite, is entering the segment of demanding off-road vehicles with the G919 model. The newcomer brings a recognizable boxy shape with a distinctively large radiator grille, emphasizing its robust character. It measures 5.135 mm in length, 2.050 mm in width and 1.950 mm in height, while its wheelbase is 2.900 mm. The vehicle is based on a classic rigid chassis, which is a key element for serious off-road driving, and an advanced air suspension ensures comfort and flexibility.
The drivetrain operates on the EREV (Electric Range Extender Vehicle) principle, where a 2,0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and four electric motors work together. The total system output is an impressive 620 kW (843 hp) and torque reaches 1.320 Nm. Since each wheel is driven by its own electric motor, the system allows for extremely precise torque adjustment for optimal traction in all driving conditions. Despite its size and weight, this SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4,5 seconds.
The exact capacity of the battery pack remains unknown, but the manufacturer states that the purely electric range is 280 km, and the total combined range rises to 1.350 kilometers. To overcome the most difficult terrain, the vehicle is equipped with three mechanical differential locks (front, center and rear). Official prices have not yet been revealed, as the model will only be sold on the domestic market in the coming months, when more details about the car itself will be known.
