Alpine unveils fully electric prototype "A110 FUTURE"

French sports car manufacturer Alpine is unveiling the third generation of its iconic A110 sports car for the first time at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed (July 9-12).

Under the name "Alpine A110 FUTURE", the brand is presenting a development car that is already close to series production (the so-called "mule"), which will form the technological heart of the manufacturer's largest ever presentation at this traditional event. The prototype will be on display during dynamic demonstration drives on the racetrack each day of the four-day festival.

The upcoming generation of the A110 is set to launch as an all-electric sports car. The technical basis is the newly developed Alpine Performance Platform (APP), an architecture made entirely of aluminum. The chassis has been purpose-designed to maintain the brand's signature agility despite its electric drive, while at the same time surpassing the performance of modern internal combustion sports cars.

To achieve the typical sports car weight distribution of 40 percent on the front axle and 60 percent on the rear axle, the battery cells were arranged in two separate assemblies in the vehicle. Advanced 800-volt “Cell-to-Pack” technology with high energy density is used, which reduces both the overall weight of the vehicle and the charging time.

The drive is provided by a new, compact 3-in-1 electric axle on the rear axle. This combines two electric motors with silicon carbide (SiC) inverters, ensuring precise steering and high torque and driving performance. The technical equipment is completed by an all-aluminum chassis and newly installed braking and steering systems.

The Festival of Speed also pays tribute to the history of the model. A special exhibition shows the development of the A110 from a historic rally icon to a pioneer in the field of electric vehicles. The presentation is complemented by the fully electric A290 compact model and the 470 PS A390 SUV. One of the main highlights of the event is the “Alpine Moment” on Thursday, July 9. During this parade drive, the “A110 FUTURE” will drive around the racetrack together with the historic A110 models, followed by a demonstration drive of the V8-powered Formula 1 E20 racing car.
