On his 70th birthday, sports car philosopher and “god of carbon” Horacio Pagani continues to impress. In honor of the founder of the Pagani brand, a total of three Huayra models will be presented. They already presented the Huayra 70 Trionfo in January. Now – just in time for the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026 – they are following up with the Huayra 70 Derecho.
In fact, the Utopia should have taken over the main role in Pagani's model range long ago. But even 15 years after its premiere, the Huayra remains an indispensable part of the brand from San Cesario sul Panaro. With constantly new small series and unique examples, Pagani is constantly perfecting this hyper sports car.
The new Derecho comes from the Grandi Complicazioni department. The name sounds like a real Italian legal dispute, but in reality it is an internal department dedicated to particularly demanding customer projects and custom products. Like the first Huayra 70, this car is not intended as a new series, but as an individually crafted collector's item based on the famous Huayra model.
The Pagani Huayra, the successor to the Zonda, was launched in 2011 and consistently continued the brand's philosophy: minimal weight, high-quality carbon composites and a Mercedes-AMG V12 biturbo engine. The 6,0-liter engine initially developed 730 PS, but has been continuously refined over the years.
Since then, numerous versions have been created, such as the Huayra BC, Roadster, Roadster BC, Codalunga, Codalunga Speedster or the uncompromising Huayra R with its naturally aspirated V12 racing engine. All of these versions have one thing in common: they never follow the classic model cycles. Instead, Pagani continues to use the Huayra today as a platform for limited special models, often created in close collaboration with their future owners.
The Huayra 70 Derecho fits right into this tradition. It owes its name to the rare weather phenomenon with straight stormy winds. The 6,0-liter biturbo V12 produced by AMG and located in the rear of the second "party" Huayra will once again unleash more than just a storm. In this case, it develops 864 PS at 6.000 rpm and 1.100 Nm, which are available between 2.800 and 5.900 rpm. Gear shifting is of course done manually via a 7-speed XTrac transmission.
Power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels, and the car is equipped with an electromechanical limited-slip differential. There are no official figures for 0-100 km/h acceleration (we assume it's fast), but the top speed is expected to exceed 350 km/h.
The Derecho stands out visually thanks to its special paint treatment. The colours Pearl Orange and translucent Inky Blue highlight the distinctive herringbone pattern on the exposed carbon structure. This is complemented by numerous solid block aluminium parts with a glossy titanium anodised finish and newly developed titanium wheels made exclusively for the Huayra 70 series.
Inside, Pagani also relies on its well-known combination of traditional craftsmanship and high-quality materials. White leather is interwoven with dark blue accents, while orange details on the steering wheel and gear lever reflect the body color. As with all current Pagani models, even the smallest components are manufactured in a meticulous manual process.
With the Huayra 70 Derecho, Pagani proves once again that the Huayra, despite the Utopia model, is far from just a piece of automotive history. Instead, this model is increasingly developing into an exclusive canvas for unique products that test the limits of the manufacturer's capabilities. Let's see what they will come up with in San Cesario sul Panaro as a third gift for the boss.
Anyone who wants to experience Pagani's latest surprise live: the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026 will take place from July 9th to 12th. The Zonda F Roadster and Utopia Roadster will also be on display at the Pagani showroom.
